My favorite Scarf!

With the weather cooling off, Fall is in full swing. Well actually yesterday felt more like with winter with the temps in the 30s and the all day snow showers. It is however Fall and with the change in season comes an excitement for great Fall fashions. I have been very much enjoying my scarf collection the past few weeks. I love the layered look of a great scarf. I love that it makes we feel cozy and warm. A scarf can change the look of an entire outfit and it always adds a wow factor. The great thing about a scarf is that you can add a touch of glamour and class without breaking the bank. Scarves are incredible affordable. Some of my favorite places to find affordable scarves are Target, H&M, and Zara. My favorite scarf in my collection is from H&M. It is a fabulous animal print and the best part of all, it was only $12! It is so soft and the perfect size for layering. You can never go wrong with animal print in my opinion. Little touches of animal print in an outfit really glams up the look. I love my animal print scarf!

My Favorite Pair of Jeans

Without a doubt my favorite pair of jeans are my Jessica Simpson Malibu Skinnies. They are the perfect medium wash with just the right amount of stretch. Whenever I wear them I feel like I am wearing a pair of sweats. They are so comfy. I wear them all of the time, which is why they show up in almost all of my outfit of the day posts. You can dress them up with a great blazer and heels or dress them down with a simple white T and flip flops. They are hands down the best jeans ever! I love them:)

A few honorable mentions......
Gap Jeggings (the blacks one are my fav)
Seven for all Mankind Flares jeans (bought at T.J. Maxx:)
Gap Long and Lean jeans

My Favorites Series!

I decided the other day to do a series of my favorite fashion pieces and beauty products of the moment. I am not sure how many posts will be in the series, so we will just see what happens. I have a lot of favorites, so it might be a lengthy series. For right now I will leave you with a few snapshots of our recent hiking trip along the Appalachian Trail. It was a lot of fun!

A Berrygood Smoothie:)

For me nothing is better to get myself going in the mornings than a smoothie. I am not a person who likes to eat a big breakfast or frankly any breakfast in the mornings. However, it is important to eat something in order to jumpstart your metabolism. Jeff and I came up with the best smoothie recipe for people like me who don't like to eat breakfast. It is so quick and easy and great to take with you on your way out the door.  Not to metion is so yummy. Enjoy!

A Berrygood Smoothie
1 cup milk
1 cup vanilla yougart
1 spoonfull of peanutbutter
1 banana
1 scoop of protein powder (optional)
1 handfull of the following
strawberries
blueberries
raspberries
blackberries

Put everything into a blinder and you have a perfectly yummy and health breakfast!
Note: Our recipe makes enough for two people. So it is perfect to share or just enjoy it all by yourself:)

Heaven In A Bowl

One of the best things about Fall is all of the comfort food, and nothing says Fall like a yummy bowl of soup. The other night I fixed broccoli cheese soup with ham and cheese puffs. It was perfection:) I found the soup recipe in the Foodnetwork magazine a while ago. It was the "Copy That" recipe for Panera Breads broccoli cheese soup. Let me just say the "Copy That" recipe is soooo much better than the Panera Bread version.  Here is the recipe for the soup. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/almost-famous-broccoli-cheddar-soup-recipe/index.html

Ham and Cheese Puffs Courtesy of Jennifer Dale

1 tablespoon mayo
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 cup diced ham
1 can of biscuits
Mix first 4 ingredients in a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment or mix in a regular bowl with a spoon. Place biscuits into muffin tin pressing lightly. Then spoon mixture into the biscuits. Bake following the directions on the biscuit can since times and temps. may vary. Enjoy!!!

Fall Haul

I have accumulated some great new pieces for Fall over the last month or so. A few things were gifted, but most of it I purchased myself. A fabulous military jacket, scarves, and a striped sweaters from Zara are among my recent purchases. Side note.....have I said how much I love living in a city with multiple H&Ms and Zaras? I also love the fact that D.C. is one of only a few cities in the United States to have some awesome British stores like SpaceNK and AllSaints. Anyways...back to the Fall haul. I love that I live in a part of the country that actually experiences Fall. The colors, the blue skies, and cool temps make me excited to pile on the layers when it comes to clothes. I will admit though, that when it gets cool outside I automatically go for dark colors like black, black, and more black. I have to force myself to choose more color. The vivid colors of Fall are in full force and they show up in many of my newest finds. I have worn some of my new pieces a few times and others I am waiting for the perfect Fall day to break them in.

La Dolce Vita

This is my first post about food, it will not be my last. I have been thinking lately about blogging on the yummy food I prepare on a regular basis. La Dolce Vita is Italian for the sweet life and nothing is sweeter than a creamy cheesy bowl of pasta. Last night was pasta night at our place. I made a new recipe from Tyler Florence. It was the best carbonara EVER! The recipe called for parsley, but I used baby spinach and really liked the cold crunch it added to the creamy hot dish. We had a baguette with the pasta from our little bakery down the street, Best Buns. I love pasta anything and this dish did not disappoint. It was ultimate food satisfaction. Here is the recipe if you are interested in making it. I took a few pictures of the dish and thought I would share then with you. Bon Appetito!
