Take Two

So I tried a different chocolate mousse recipe today, courtesy of Tyler Florence. The recipe is in the “Tyler's Ultimate” cookbook. I had made a chocolate mousse the other week using another recipe and was not happy with the way it turned out. I am pleased to report that this chocolate mousse came out perfectly. I was so yummy! I whipped up some heavy cream and topped it with chocolate chips, which only added to its yummy factor. I did add some coffee to the recipe, which really bumped up the chocolate flavor. If you can get your hands on “Tyler’s Ultimate” cookbook, I highly recommend it. I have made so many delicious recipes using this cookbook. It is a great book to have in your collection.

It's A Giveaway!

I have wanted to do a giveaway for a very long time; I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to giveaway. I was at Ulta the other day and I decided to go with a great manicure set. I was so excited to pick up the new O.P.I Holland collection in the minis. I always love it when O.P.I comes out with their new collections. Along with the polish, I pick up a bottle of Seche Vite top coat (my favorite), a 4 sided nail buffer, and a set of O.P.I toe separators.

A Delicious Delivery

Today Jeff and I got our first delivery from Washington Green Grocer, an organic food delivery service. We were so excited to open the box and see what we got. Jeff and I chose the mixed produce box, but the company offers many different types of boxes. You can choose meats, dairy, or produce like we did. Jeff and I couldn't wait to try the produce, so we jumped right in with the apples, bananas, pears, and tangerines. They were all so delicious and fresh.  We will definitely be ordering a box again!

CHOCOLATE.....

.....need I say more?

Jeff and I treated ourselves last night to these pot de crèmes. I found the recipe in the February issue of Food Network magazine. The issue is dedicated to all things chocolate, which of course is fine with meJ . The pots de crèmes are a Ree Drummond (better known as The Pioneer Woman) recipe. It was quick and easy to make, but unfortunately they had to chill in the refrigerator for several hours before we could enjoy them. I think I checked on them about every 30 minutes to see if they were set up enough to eat. The pot e crèmes were so yummy however; I think the recipe needed to be tweaked a little. I would have liked them to be firmer. I think the next time I try this recipe I will add whipped cream and egg whites to the pot de crèmes, which will add air and help to set up better. Overall we loved the recipe, I mean what is better than eating a little bowl of chocolate!

I received my February BirchBox in the mail yesterday! I am always excited to sit down and open my monthly BirchBox. This month was no exception, especially when I saw a pink Beauty Blender. The Beauty Blender is so great for applying foundation. It gives you a nice finish, without leaving your skin looking uneven or cakey. I have never tried the dermalogica microfoliant or the Eye Rock Liners, but I am super excited to try them both out. The nail file is perfect for throwing in my bag and I love that it is a bright pink heart! I have heard good things about the Jouer Luminizing Tint. It is like a tinted moisturizing that leaves the skin looking dewy.  As for the music download, I am not sure if I will use it since I don’t really care about it. I have a subscription to BirchBox for the make-up, not the music. Overall I am pleased with the February box. I think I will enjoy all of the products, like I always do!

Comfy Stripes

This is such a comfy outfit. Nothing is better than boots, a cardigan, and a great pair of jeans during colder months. Adding a super soft infinity scarf doesn't hurt either. What is your go to outfit when it is cool outside?

Caramelized Banana Pudding

Ok…..so if you love banana pudding you will love this recipe. I found it in this month’s Southern Living magazine.  I love banana pudding, but this was the first time I had ever made it. The recipe was very easy and the results were very tastyJ . It was so delicious and I will definitely be adding this recipe to my collection. If you are able to get your hands on the February issue of Southern Living, you should definitely pick it up. The magazine is filled with so many good recipes, but my favorite has to be this caramelized banana pudding.

Liberty Mountain

This past week Jeff and I went skiing for the third time this season. I must say that I have very much enjoyed learning to ski. It is a lot more fun than I ever thought it would be. I am not a very outdoorsy kind of girl, but skiing has been a blast. The last two times Jeff and I have skied, we have gone to Liberty Mountain in Pennsulvania. It is a great little ski resort, perfect for a beginner like me. If you ever have the opportunity to going skiing there, I highly recommend it.

Even though it was cool and rainy today, lately it has definitely felt like Spring. I decided today was the day to breakout the Spring colors. I almost wore sandals, but I decided that would be a bit much. I loved pulling the floral top and pink sweater out of the closet. I am hoping that this warm weather is here to stay.
